Turn Smart Replies On or Off auf Android
Smart Reply is a suggestion feature inside the Google Messages app, not a system-wide Android setting. It scans the text of a received message and proposes short responses you can tap instead of typing.
Because the feature analyzes message content on your device, some users turn it off for privacy reasons or because the suggestions rarely match what they actually want to say. Others lose the suggestion bar after a settings reset or an app update and want it back.
The toggle is tied to your Google Account inside the app, not to the general Android system settings, so it will not show up if you search through your phone's main Settings app. To change it, go to Tap on Messages ➔ Tap on Google Account ➔ Tap on Messages settings ➔ Tap on General ➔ Tap on Suggestions ➔ Enable or disable Smart Reply.
If you use more than one Google Account in Messages, check that you are editing the account currently active in the app, since the Smart Reply toggle is stored per account.
Turning the feature off does not affect other suggestion types like smart actions for addresses or events, since those are controlled separately under the same Suggestions menu.
