Turn Spam Protection On or Off auf Android
Spam protection in Google Messages checks incoming texts against Google's spam patterns and flags anything suspicious. To do this, the app sends limited message data to Google for evaluation, which is the trade-off for more accurate filtering. If you disable it, Messages relies only on on-device signals and you may see more unfiltered spam, but nothing gets sent to Google for that specific check.
To turn it on or off, go to Tap on Messages ➔ Tap on Google Account ➔ Tap on Messages settings ➔ Tap on General ➔ Tap on Spam protection. From there you can toggle the feature on or off directly.
This setting is useful if you are getting flooded with promotional or scam texts and want stronger filtering. It is less useful if you already rely on a third-party spam-blocking app, since running two filters can cause conflicting results or duplicate flags on the same messages.
