Suggestion Strip: Turn On or Off auf Android
The suggestion strip is a row above the on-screen keyboard that shows predicted words based on what you are typing. Tapping a word inserts it directly into your text, which speeds up typing on longer messages.
On most Android phones this strip is active by default because it belongs to the built-in text correction feature of Gboard. If you type in multiple languages, use a lot of technical terms, or simply find the extra row distracting, disabling it frees up a bit of screen space above the keyboard.
To turn the suggestion strip on or off, open Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on System ➔ Tap on Keyboard ➔ Tap on On-screen keyboard ➔ Tap on Gboard ➔ Tap on Text correction ➔ Enable or disable Show suggestion strip. The toggle switches immediately, so you can open the keyboard right after to check the result.
If you are missing autocorrect entirely rather than just the suggestion strip, check the other options inside the same Text correction menu, since they are controlled separately.
