Switch Between User Accounts auf Android
Android manages multiple user profiles through a dedicated system function, separate from the account you use for apps and cloud sync. Each profile keeps its own apps, files and settings isolated, which is why switching between them can feel slower than a simple sign-out.
The most reliable path goes through the system menu: Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on System ➔ Tap on Multiple users ➔ Select an User ➔ Tap on Switch to. This works even if the shortcut is missing from Quick Settings, which happens on some device skins or restricted profiles.
If a lock screen method (PIN, pattern or password) is set on the device, Android asks for it again after selecting the target user. This is a security measure, not a glitch, since each profile can hold separate personal data.
Switching users does not close the running apps of the previous profile. They stay active in the background, so the device may feel briefly slower right after a switch, especially on entry-level hardware.
If the goal is only to hide notifications or restrict app access temporarily, a Guest profile or app-specific lock is usually faster than creating or switching a full user account.
