Enable or Disable Flip to Shhh for Do Not Disturb auf Android
Flip to Shhh is a gesture control built into Android's system settings. It reads the accelerometer and activates Do Not Disturb the moment you place the phone screen-down or flip it face-first onto a surface. A short vibration confirms the switch, and Do Not Disturb turns off automatically once you lift the phone again.
The feature exists to silence a ringing or buzzing phone quickly, without unlocking the screen or pulling down the notification shade. It works independently from any Do Not Disturb schedule you have set manually, so it can mute sound even outside your usual quiet hours.
To turn the gesture on or off, open Settings ➔ System ➔ Gestures ➔ Flip to Shhh and toggle Use Flip to Shhh. Disabling it here stops the accelerometer trigger completely, while your regular Do Not Disturb schedule stays untouched.
If notifications go quiet unexpectedly, check whether the phone is lying face-down in a bag, pocket, or on a soft surface — that position alone can trigger the gesture. If you only need Do Not Disturb at fixed times, a manual schedule inside Do Not Disturb settings is more predictable than relying on the flip gesture.
