Android: Remove a Paired Bluetooth Device

Old headphones or a car system still show up in your Bluetooth list even though you never use them anymore, and new devices sometimes struggle to connect while that clutter sits there. Removing an unused pairing clears the stored connection completely, so the two devices have to reconnect from scratch next time.

Unpair a Bluetooth Device auf Android

A Bluetooth pairing stays saved on your phone even after you stop using the accessory. That stored entry can slow down scanning for new devices or cause your phone to try reconnecting to something that is turned off or out of range.

Removing the pairing deletes the saved connection key. The next time you want to use that speaker, headset, or car system, you have to pair it again from scratch, including any confirmation codes.

To forget a device, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Connected devicesOpen the Device settingsTap on ForgetTap on Forget device.

This works the same way whether the device is currently connected or just listed as previously paired. If the accessory is nearby and powered on when you remove it, it usually disconnects immediately before the entry disappears from the list.

When to skip this

If you only want to stop using a device temporarily, turning off its Bluetooth toggle or disconnecting it is enough. Forgetting the pairing is the right move when you are getting rid of the accessory, troubleshooting a connection problem, or need to re-pair it under a different account or phone.
