Screen freezes on turning the handset on

Less than a week old and the Screen has frozen when I turned the handset on.Not a removable battery and taking the sim card out did not reset it.None of the buttons respond.Heavy duty battery so will take at least two days to drain the power then reset.Any ideas what I can do?
