Camera issues

Hi, this is my first Xiaomi, and I understand that 1, it's a cheap phone & 2, sacrifices have been made for the inclusion of 5g at the money. But is it normal for the camera to be this bad? Probably 1 in 10 shots are decent, with the rest being washed out or over exposed. Have tried with and without HDR & A.I  but it's disappointing. I had an OPPO a9 2020 previously, and although it was hit and miss sometimes, you could get some excellent pics from it. My OPPO find X2 looks like it's from a different decade. Is it faulty do you think, or is this the price of cheap 5g.
