Huawei: Turn Off Advanced Visual Effects for Smoother Menus

Advanced visual effects control the fade, slide and zoom animations you see when opening apps, switching menus or expanding notifications on a Huawei phone. EMUI uses these transitions to make the interface feel more polished, but they also add rendering overhead. On devices with less processing power or an aging battery, this can show up as stutter, delayed app launches or a slight lag when swiping through menus.

Turning the effects off does not change any core function of the phone. It only removes the decorative motion, so screens switch instantly instead of fading or sliding into place. This is worth doing if you notice hesitation when opening the app drawer, pulling down notifications or switching between recent apps.

You find the switch under Open the settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility features ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Activate or deactivate Advanced visual effects. Toggling it off removes the animations immediately, no restart needed.

If your phone still feels slow after disabling this setting, the cause is more likely background apps, storage space or battery health rather than visual transitions. In that case, check running apps and storage before assuming animations are the bottleneck. Re-enabling the effects later restores the original transitions with no side effects.
