Oppo: Set Up the APN Manually

If mobile data won't connect or SMS and MMS refuse to send on your Oppo phone, a missing or incorrect access point is usually the cause. This happens after a SIM swap, a factory reset, or when the network profile never downloaded automatically. Entering the APN by hand fixes both data and messaging in one step.

Set Up Access Point Names (APN) Manually auf Oppo

Every mobile network needs an access point name to route data traffic and text messages correctly. On most Oppo phones this profile downloads automatically once you insert a SIM card and connect to the carrier network for the first time.

Sometimes that automatic step fails. A recent factory reset, a SIM card from a different provider, or a firmware update can leave the access point list empty or pointing to the wrong carrier. The result: mobile data stays disconnected even with full signal bars, and SMS or MMS messages get stuck in the outbox.

Adding the APN manually solves this without needing to reset the whole device. Go to Tap on SettingsTap on SIM card & mobile data. If you use two SIM cards, select the one that needs configuring under Choose a SIM card (Dual SIM).

Then open Tap on Access point names and select Tap on Add. Fill in the values your carrier provides, usually the APN name, MMSC address, and proxy port, then confirm with Tap on Save.

Double-check the new profile is selected as active afterward. If mobile data still fails after saving, restart the phone once to force it to re-read the new network profile.

Frequently asked questions

Your mobile carrier publishes these values on its support page or can send them by text after you call customer service. Never guess the MMSC address or proxy port, since wrong values often cause the same connection failure you started with.
