Oppo: Mark a Contact as Favorite

On Oppo phones running Coloros, favorites are not just a shortcut list. They also function as a group that can be exempted from Do Not Disturb or used as a whitelist for blocked calls, so marking the right contacts matters beyond convenience.

Where to find the option

Open the Contacts app and go to Tap on Contacts. From the list, use Choose a Contact to open the profile of the person you want to prioritize. Inside the contact details, use Tap on Favorite to mark or unmark the contact.

What changes once a contact is marked

A favorited contact usually appears in a dedicated section at the top of your contact list or in a shortcut widget, depending on how your home screen and dialer are set up.

If you use Do Not Disturb with an exception for favorites enabled, calls and messages from these contacts can still reach you while everything else stays silent. The same group can also serve as a whitelist if you have call blocking active, letting favorited numbers through even when unknown or blocked numbers are filtered out.

When this is not the right fix

If you only want one specific contact to bypass Do Not Disturb without adding them to Favorites, check whether your Coloros version offers a separate per-contact exception instead. Favoriting a contact affects every feature tied to that group, not just one setting.

Removing a contact from favorites

Repeat the same steps and tap Tap on Favorite again on that contact to unmark it. The contact stays in your list but drops out of the favorites section and any related exceptions.
