Oppo: Turn Wi-Fi Auto-Reconnect On or Off

If your Oppo phone keeps hopping back onto a weak or blocked Wi-Fi network instead of switching to mobile data, the Automatically reconnect option is the reason. It is active by default for every saved network, which is convenient at home but annoying near a guest hotspot with a login page or poor signal. You can turn it off for one network only, without affecting the others.

Auto-Reconnect to a Wi-Fi Network auf Oppo

Oppo phones running ColorOS save every Wi-Fi network you connect to and try to rejoin it automatically once it comes back in range. This behavior is controlled by the Automatically reconnect option, which exists separately for each saved network.

It is turned on by default so you never have to tap a network manually again. The downside shows up when a saved network has a weak signal, requires a login page, or blocks internet access after a router reset. In those cases the phone keeps latching onto that network instead of falling back to mobile data.

To change it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Wi-FiOpen the MenuEnable or disable Automatically reconnect. This setting only applies to the network you have selected, so other saved Wi-Fi connections keep their own behavior untouched.

Turning it off is useful for public hotspots, hotel networks, or any connection you only need once. Turning it back on later brings back the automatic handoff without needing to re-enter a password, since the network stays saved either way.

Frequently asked questions

Automatically reconnect keeps the phone attached to any saved network as soon as it detects it, even with a weak signal. Disable it for that specific network via Tap on SettingsTap on Wi-FiOpen the MenuEnable or disable Automatically reconnect, and the phone will switch to mobile data instead.
