Auto Update-Download: Turn On or Off auf Oppo
Auto download for software updates controls whether your Oppo phone fetches new update files by itself, without you tapping Check for updates first. It runs independently from installation: a downloaded update still waits for your confirmation before it gets installed, unless you have automatic installation enabled separately.
The setting also decides which network is allowed to handle these downloads. Left on with mobile data permitted, a large update package can use up a noticeable chunk of your monthly data, especially on unlimited-looking plans that still throttle after a cap. Restricting it to Wi-Fi only avoids that, but it means updates only download when you are connected to a wireless network, which can delay getting security patches on the road.
You find the option under Settings ➔ Software update ➔ Settings ➔ Auto download ➔ Choose an Option. From there you pick whether updates download automatically over any network, only over Wi-Fi, or not at all until you check manually.
If you are more concerned about missing an update than about data usage, keep auto download on and just make sure Wi-Fi is available regularly. If storage space is tight, check how much space downloaded update files take up before enabling automatic downloads on mobile data.
