Oppo: Change the Video Resolution in the Camera App

Not every Oppo phone records the same video quality out of the box, and the default setting often stays on HD or FullHD even when your device supports more. If your clips look softer than expected or take up more storage than planned, the resolution picked in the camera app is usually the reason.

Change Video Resolution auf Oppo

Oppo phones running Coloros ship with a default video resolution that does not always match what the camera hardware can actually deliver. Depending on the model, you can record in HD, FullHD, 4K or even 8K, but the app only shows you the option once you open the correct settings menu.

A resolution set too low leads to soft, pixelated footage, especially on larger screens. A resolution set too high produces sharper video but creates much bigger files and can drain the battery faster during long recordings.

Where to change it

Open Tap on CameraTap on SettingsTap on Video resolutionSet the Video resolution. The available options depend on your specific Oppo model, since not every device supports 4K or 8K capture.

If you only need footage for messaging apps or social media, a lower resolution like HD keeps files small and uploads fast. For footage you plan to edit or view on a TV, FullHD or higher gives you more detail to work with.

If your recordings still look blurry after raising the resolution, check that the lens is clean and that stabilization settings are not forcing a lower output.

Frequently asked questions

Only certain Oppo models support these resolutions. If Video resolution in Tap on Settings does not list 4K or 8K, your camera hardware does not support them.
