Oppo: Delete a Photo Album in Gallery

Deleting an album in the Gallery app on Oppo phones only removes the album folder, not the photos and videos inside it right away. If you expected storage to free up instantly, the fact that contents sit in trash for 30 days can be confusing. Knowing what actually happens to your media helps you avoid losing files you still need.

Delete a Photo Album auf Oppo

Deleting an album in the Gallery app on Oppo devices does not erase your photos and videos immediately. Coloros moves the contents of a deleted album into the trash, where they remain recoverable for 30 days before automatic removal.

Why the album disappears but storage stays full

An album is just an organizational shortcut inside Gallery, not a separate storage location. When you remove it, the underlying media files are relocated to the trash instead of being deleted outright. This is why free storage space doesn't increase right away after deleting an album.

How to delete an album

Open Photos and tap on Albums. Open the menu and tap on Edit. Select the album you want to remove, tap on Delete, then confirm with Delete Album.

If you only want the album gone but still want the option to recover files later, this method is enough. If you need the photos gone immediately, empty the trash manually afterward instead of waiting for the 30-day cycle to finish.
