Oppo: Delete Photos and Videos from Gallery

Storage fills up fast when old photos and videos pile up in the Oppo Gallery app, and deleting them one by one feels endless. Switching to edit mode lets you select several files at once, but the items you remove do not disappear right away. They sit in the Trash for a while first, which still counts against your free storage until they are cleared out.

Delete Photos or Videos auf Oppo

Low storage warnings on an Oppo phone usually trace back to photos and videos that were never cleared out of the Gallery app. Deleting media there is straightforward, but ColorOS does not remove files immediately - it moves them to a Trash folder first.

Deleting one or several files at once

Open the Gallery and follow this path: Tap on PhotosTap and hold a Photo/VideoIf desired, select other Photos/VideosTap on DeleteTap on Delete items. Holding a photo activates the selection mode, so you can tap additional items before confirming, which is faster than deleting files individually.

Why storage is not freed instantly

Deleted photos and videos land in the Trash and stay there for 30 days before ColorOS removes them automatically. Until that happens, the files still take up space, so a low-storage problem is not solved the moment you tap Delete.

If you need space back right away, emptying the Trash manually is the better fix instead of waiting out the 30 days. Keep in mind that once a file is gone from the Trash, it cannot be restored through the Gallery app anymore.

Frequently asked questions

No. Deleted photos and videos move to the Trash first and still use storage space until ColorOS removes them automatically after 30 days, or until you empty the Trash yourself.
