Oppo: Turn On Double Tap to Wake Screen

Reaching for the power button just to check the time or read a notification gets tiring fast. On Oppo phones running ColorOS, a quick double tap on the lock screen can wake the display instead, but this option is not always active out of the box. It sits inside a display menu that most people never open, so the phone keeps needing a button press.

Double Tap to Wake Screen auf Oppo

Double tap to wake lets you activate the screen by tapping it twice on the lock screen, without touching the power button. It relies on the touch panel staying in a low-power listening state while the screen is off, so it can register a tap pattern before fully turning on.

On some Oppo devices this feature is switched off by default, which is why nothing happens when you tap the display. It is also easy to miss because it lives under the general display settings rather than a dedicated gesture menu.

To enable or disable it, open Tap on SettingsTap on Home screen, Lock screen & Always-On-DisplayEnable or disable Double tap to turn screen on. Toggling the switch there takes effect immediately, no restart needed.

If the screen still does not react after enabling the option, check whether a screen protector or case is interfering with touch sensitivity. A thick or low-quality protector can block the panel from detecting the double tap correctly.

This gesture is separate from Always-On-Display and from raise-to-wake. If you only need to glance at the time without unlocking, combining Always-On-Display with double tap to wake often works better than relying on one feature alone.

Frequently asked questions

Confirm the option is actually enabled under Tap on SettingsTap on Home screen, Lock screen & Always-On-DisplayEnable or disable Double tap to turn screen on. If it is on but still unreliable, remove any thick screen protector or case, since they can block the touch panel from sensing the tap while the display is off.
