Show or Hide the Emoji Switch Key on Gboard auf Oppo
On Oppo phones running Coloros with Gboard, the emoji switch key appears next to the space bar by default. It gives quick access to the emoji overview without leaving the keyboard.
This button shares its spot with the language switch key. Gboard only shows one of them at a time, so if you type in multiple languages regularly, the emoji key can block the shortcut you actually need.
You control this behavior in the keyboard preferences, not in the general system settings. Go to Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Keyboard & input method ➔ Gboard ➔ Preferences and use the toggle for Show emoji switch key.
Turning it off brings back the language switch key automatically, no extra step required. Turning it on hides the language switch key and shows the emoji icon instead.
If you switch languages more often than you use emojis, disabling the emoji key is the better setup. If you type mostly in one language and use emojis a lot, keep it enabled.
When this is not the right fix
If emoji icons are missing entirely while typing, or emoji rendering looks broken, that points to a font or keyboard app issue, not this preference.
