Oppo: Turn a SIM Card On or Off

On dual-SIM Oppo phones, calls and data keep arriving on both lines even when you only want one of them active right now. Pulling the SIM tray works, but it is slow and risks bending the tray or losing the tiny card. A hidden switch in the connectivity settings controls each SIM slot on its own, and it is easy to overlook when both cards still show as connected.

Turn a SIM Card On or Off auf Oppo

Every SIM slot on an Oppo phone running ColorOS has its own on/off switch, separate from the SIM tray itself. This switch decides whether the modem registers that card with the mobile network at all. Once it is off, the number stops receiving calls, texts and mobile data, but the physical card stays untouched and ready for later.

This is different from just switching off mobile data. Data-only toggles still leave the line reachable for calls and SMS. Disabling the whole SIM slot cuts all three at once, which is the setting you want if you need to go silent on one number for a while, for example during travel or when switching to a work-only line.

You find the control under Tap on SettingsTap on SIM card & mobile dataChoose a SIM card (Dual SIM)Turn On/Off the SIM card. Flip the switch for the SIM slot you want to pause, then confirm the status shown next to that card.

Physically removing the SIM is only necessary if you need the tray free for another card or a memory card, since a software-disabled SIM still occupies its slot.

Frequently asked questions

No. The switch only stops network registration for that slot. Contacts and messages saved on the SIM stay exactly where they are until you remove the card yourself.
