Turn On TalkBack (Accessibility) auf Oppo
TalkBack is the screen reader built into Android. Once active on your Oppo phone, it converts on-screen text to speech and rewrites basic gestures: a single tap now selects and reads an item out loud, while a double tap opens or activates it.
This gesture shift is why TalkBack feels confusing if it gets switched on by accident, or frustrating if you actually need it and cannot locate the toggle. The feature lives inside the Accessibility section of Coloros, separate from display, sound, or lock screen settings, so it is easy to overlook.
To turn it on, use this path:
Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ Talkback ➔ Turn On TalkBack
After enabling it, the phone confirms with a short spoken prompt and a tutorial overlay. Give the tutorial a few seconds instead of tapping away, since closing it too fast leaves the changed gestures active without any explanation.
If you only need text read aloud occasionally, for example one label or one paragraph, Select to Speak is usually the better tool because it does not change how taps and swipes behave everywhere else. TalkBack makes sense when you rely on audio feedback across the whole system, not just for single elements.
