Oppo: Unlock App Lock with Your Fingerprint

If App lock on your Oppo phone still asks for a PIN or password even though you want to use your fingerprint, the sensor option is probably still switched off. Fingerprint unlock for App lock only works once you turn it on separately, and only after a privacy password has been set up. Without that password, the fingerprint toggle stays greyed out.

Unlock App Lock with Fingerprint auf Oppo

App lock on Oppo phones works with a PIN or password by default, but the fingerprint sensor can unlock protected apps just as fast. The setting lives inside the biometrics menu and stays hidden until you enable it manually.

Before the fingerprint switch becomes active, ColorOS requires a privacy password. This separate password protects the App lock settings themselves, so nobody can simply disable fingerprint unlock or remove protected apps without it. If you have not set one yet, the system prompts you to create it the first time you open the App lock section.

Turn on fingerprint unlock for App lock

Open SettingsPassword & biometricsFingerprintUse fingerprint for and enable App lock. Confirm with your registered fingerprint if the system asks for it.

Once active, every app you locked opens with a short touch on the sensor instead of typing the PIN each time. If the toggle stays grey, check that at least one fingerprint is already registered under Password & biometrics, since App lock cannot use a sensor with no stored fingerprint.

Fingerprint unlock speeds things up but keeps the PIN as a backup automatically, so a wet or dirty sensor never locks you out of an app.

Frequently asked questions

It stays greyed out until a privacy password is set and at least one fingerprint is stored under Password & biometrics. Add both first, then the switch under Use fingerprint for becomes selectable.
