Oppo: Turn Raise to Wake On or Off

If your Oppo screen keeps lighting up on its own while the phone sits on a table or rides around in your bag, a motion sensor is picking up every small movement. That behavior comes from a gesture setting that wakes the display the moment the phone is lifted or shifted, and it can drain battery or trigger accidental touches when you did not mean to check the phone.

Raise to Wake Setting auf Oppo

Raise to wake is a motion-based gesture on Oppo phones running ColorOS. A sensor detects when the device is lifted or tilted and turns the screen on automatically, without needing the power button.

This is convenient when you actually pick up the phone to check the time or a notification. It becomes annoying when the phone sits in a bag or on a moving surface, since small shakes or bumps can trigger the same sensor and wake the display for no reason.

Frequent unwanted wake-ups drain battery faster and can cause the phone to unlock in your pocket if screen lock timing is short. Turning the gesture off stops the screen from lighting up unless you press the power button or double-tap it, depending on your other display settings.

To change it, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Home screen, Lock screen & Always-On-DisplayEnable or disable Raise to wake. Switching the toggle off stops the motion trigger immediately, and switching it back on restores the lift gesture.

If you only want to save battery but still like quick access, check whether double-tap to wake is available as an alternative before turning off both gestures.

Frequently asked questions

The motion sensor behind Raise to wake reacts to any tilt or lift, including shaking inside a bag. Disabling the gesture in Tap on SettingsTap on Home screen, Lock screen & Always-On-DisplayEnable or disable Raise to wake stops this.
