Show or Hide Password Characters While Typing auf Oppo
By default, ColorOS briefly displays the last character you type in a password field before switching it to a dot. This is meant to help you catch typos, but it also means anyone nearby can read parts of your password over your shoulder. The behavior is controlled by a single setting called Show password, located in the privacy section of your system settings.
To change it, go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Privacy ➔ Enable or disable Show password. Turning this off hides every character behind a dot as soon as you type it, giving you no visual confirmation of what you entered. Turning it on keeps the brief character reveal active.
This setting applies system-wide to native password fields, including lock screen PINs and login forms that use the standard Android keyboard input. It does not affect password managers or apps that render their own custom input fields, since those apps control their own display logic independently of ColorOS.
If you frequently type passwords in public or share your phone, disabling Show password reduces the risk of shoulder-surfing. If you type long or complex passwords often and rarely have anyone nearby, leaving it enabled can reduce typing errors.
