Oppo: Add Words to the Personal Dictionary

If your Oppo keyboard keeps autocorrecting names, abbreviations, or technical terms you actually want it to remember, the built-in Personal dictionary is likely empty or missing those entries. ColorOS lets you store custom words and optional shortcuts so the keyboard suggests them instead of fighting you. This mainly affects people who type industry jargon, nicknames, or non-standard spellings regularly.

Add and Manage Words in the Personal Dictionary auf Oppo

On Oppo phones running ColorOS, the keyboard relies on a built-in autocorrect dictionary that does not automatically know names, abbreviations, or slang you use often. The Personal dictionary is a separate list the keyboard checks before applying corrections, and it stays empty until you add words to it yourself.

To add an entry, go to SettingsAdditional settingsKeyboard & input methodPersonal dictionary. Pick a specific language or select For all languages if the word should appear regardless of your typing language. Tap Add, type the word, and optionally set a shortcut that expands into the full word when typed. Confirm with Back to save the entry.

This fix only helps with autocorrect and suggestion behavior. It will not resolve issues where the keyboard app itself crashes or fails to load, and it will not sync custom words across different keyboard apps if you have installed a third-party keyboard alongside the system one.

One side effect: shortcuts you set here take priority over similar-looking words already known to the keyboard, so pick shortcuts that are not common words themselves to avoid accidental replacements while typing.

Frequently asked questions

Check that you added the word under the correct language, or under For all languages if you switch input languages often. An entry saved only for one language will not apply while typing in another.
