Oppo: Set Up a Privacy Password for App Lock and Private Safe

If Oppo asks for a privacy password when you try to lock an app or open Private Safe, that code is separate from your screen lock. Many users type in their unlock PIN by mistake and get stuck at the confirmation screen. The privacy password can be its own pattern, PIN, or password.

Set Up a Privacy Password auf Oppo

The privacy password on Oppo devices protects App Lock and Private Safe. It works independently from the PIN, pattern, or password you use to unlock the screen.

Coloros separates the two on purpose. If someone knows your screen lock code but not your privacy password, they still cannot open locked apps or view files stored in Private Safe. Without a privacy password set, both features stay unavailable, since Coloros needs a dedicated code to protect them.

To create one, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Password & biometricsTap on Set privacy passwordChoose an Option and follow the instructions on screen. You can pick a pattern, a numeric PIN, or an alphanumeric password, depending on which option fits how you normally unlock apps.

Once set, the privacy password applies automatically whenever you enable App Lock for an app or move files into Private Safe. If you plan to use both features regularly, set this up before locking any app, otherwise the App Lock menu will prompt you to create the code first.

Frequently asked questions

Coloros lets you reuse the same pattern, PIN, or password, but treats it as a separate entry. Using an identical code reduces the extra protection App Lock and Private Safe are meant to provide, so a different one is recommended.
