Oppo: Enable Read Text on Images in Select to Speak

Select to Speak on ColorOS reads highlighted text out loud, but by default it ignores text that is part of an image rather than a text field.

Photos, screenshots and camera previews often contain signs, labels or printed pages. The Read text on images option adds optical text recognition to Select to Speak so it can extract and read that embedded text too.

To turn it on, go to Open the Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap on Select to Speak ➔ Open the Settings ➔ Enable or Disable Read text on images ➔ Confirm with Continue.

The feature is still labeled experimental, so recognition accuracy depends on lighting, font and image resolution. Blurry photos or handwritten text are read less reliably than clean screenshots or printed labels.

If you only need text read from apps and menus, leave the option disabled since Select to Speak already covers on-screen interface text without it. Turning the feature off again saves a short processing delay each time you select an image, since no text scan runs in the background.
