Oppo: Turn Silent Mode On or Off

If your Oppo phone stays quiet during calls and texts but the alarm or music still plays at full volume, Silent mode is likely active. It mutes incoming calls and SMS notifications and can optionally allow vibration, while media and alarm volume stay untouched. Many users mistake this for a broken speaker or a vibration setting that will not turn off.

Turn On/Off Silent Mode auf Oppo

Silent mode on Oppo phones running ColorOS mutes incoming calls and SMS notifications. It does not affect media playback or alarm sounds, which is why music or an alarm can still play at full volume even when the phone appears to be muted.

This behavior is intentional. ColorOS separates ringer and notification sounds from media and alarm audio streams, so toggling Silent mode never accidentally silences an alarm you rely on.

To turn Silent mode on or off, go to Tap on SettingsTap on Sound & vibrationEnable or disable Silent mode. From the same screen you can also choose whether the phone still vibrates while Silent mode is active, which is useful if you want a discreet alert without an audible ring.

If you expect calls but do not want any audible or vibrating alert, disable vibration alongside Silent mode. If you only want to lower the ringtone volume without muting calls entirely, adjust the ringer volume slider instead of enabling Silent mode, since that keeps calls audible at a lower level rather than fully silent.

Frequently asked questions

No. Silent mode only affects calls and SMS notifications. Alarm and media volume are controlled separately and stay audible.
