Oppo: Sort Call History by First or Last Name

If your call log on an Oppo phone lists contacts in a mix of first-name and last-name order, finding a specific call gets tedious. The Google Phone app controls this through a display setting that is easy to overlook. Switching the sort order fixes the call list and call history at once.

Sort Call History by First or Last Name auf Oppo

The call history in the Google Phone app on Oppo devices follows one naming rule for the whole list. If some entries show a first name first and others show a last name first, the app is applying whatever rule was set last, and inconsistent name formats in your saved contacts make the list look messy.

This sorting option sits inside the display settings of the Phone app itself, not in the general ColorOS system settings, so it is easy to miss during a quick settings check.

To change it, tap PhoneMenuSettingsDisplay optionsSort by, then choose First name or Last name.

Switching this option reorders every existing call log entry and any future calls right away. It does not rename or edit the underlying contact, so a contact saved with only one name field keeps its position no matter which option you pick.

Frequently asked questions

The Sort by option changes how names are ordered in the call list and call history inside the Google Phone app. It does not move or rename entries in a separate contacts app.
