Enable or Disable Speak Passwords in TalkBack auf Oppo
TalkBack announces on-screen content aloud, including the characters typed into password fields, whenever a screen reader user relies on audio feedback. On Oppo phones this behavior is controlled by a dedicated toggle called Speak passwords inside the TalkBack settings.
The option exists because password fields are usually masked visually, but TalkBack still needs a way to confirm what was typed for users who depend on sound. With Speak passwords enabled, every character gets read out loud right after entry, which turns into a privacy risk on public transport, in offices, or at home with other people around.
To change this, open Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ TalkBack ➔ Settings and toggle Speak passwords on or off.
Turning it off silences character announcements specifically for password fields, while every other TalkBack feedback keeps working as before. If you only need privacy for a single login and do not want to touch accessibility settings, using headphones or pausing TalkBack briefly is a faster workaround.
Disabling Speak passwords does not change any app-internal show/hide password icon, nor a keyboard's own preview of typed characters. Those remain separate features and need to be adjusted on their own if needed.
