Oppo: Turn Split Screen On or Off

If a three-finger swipe up does nothing on your Oppo phone, split screen mode might be switched off in the background. ColorOS ships with the feature active out of the box, but the gesture only works while split screen itself stays enabled in the settings.

Turn Split Screen On or Off auf Oppo

Split screen lets you run two apps at once on your Oppo phone, and ColorOS turns the feature on by default. If the three-finger swipe stops working, the toggle behind it has usually been switched off, either by you or during a system reset.

The gesture itself does not activate split screen directly. It calls a background function that ColorOS controls through a dedicated setting. When that setting is off, the phone ignores the swipe completely, even if you repeat it correctly.

To check or change the status, open SettingsConvenience toolsSplit screenEnable or disable Split screen. Toggle it on to restore the three-finger gesture, or switch it off if you want to stop apps from splitting by accident.

Turning split screen off does not close apps that are already running side by side; it only blocks new sessions started with the gesture. Some apps also refuse split screen individually, which shows as a short message instead of a divided layout - that limitation sits with the app, not with the ColorOS setting.

Frequently asked questions

Some full-screen games or launchers temporarily block gesture input. Restart the phone or check SettingsConvenience toolsSplit screen to confirm the toggle is still on.
