Oppo: Turn Glide Typing On or Off

Typing every letter by hand feels unnecessary when Gboard can turn a single finger swipe across the keyboard into a full word. On some Oppo phones, Glide typing stays switched off by default, so swipe gestures do nothing and the keyboard falls back to individual key taps. Whether you want faster input or need to stop an accidental swipe trigger, the setting sits hidden inside the keyboard menu.

Turn Glide Typing On or Off auf Oppo

Glide typing lets Gboard read a single continuous swipe across the letters of a word instead of separate taps. The feature belongs to the keyboard app itself, not to general system settings, so it can only be switched on or off inside Gboard's own menu on Oppo phones.

If the toggle is off, every swipe across the keys is ignored and the keyboard falls back to standard tap typing. If it's on but recognition feels inaccurate, check that your finger stays close to the letters you intend to spell instead of cutting corners.

To reach the switch, open SettingsAdditional settingsKeyboard & input methodGboardGlide typing and toggle it on or off from that screen.

Turning it off makes sense if you type mostly with one hand and prefer tapping, or if someone in your household keeps triggering accidental words while holding the phone. Turning it on speeds up longer messages once you get used to tracing words instead of tapping each letter.

Make sure Gboard is set as your active keyboard, not another input app. Check this under SettingsAdditional settingsKeyboard & input method and confirm Gboard is selected as the default before testing the swipe gesture again.
