Oppo: Power Off Your Phone the Right Way

On Oppo phones running ColorOS, the shutdown screen looks different from stock Android. Instead of tapping a Power off switch, you get a slider you have to drag downward, and if you let go too soon, the phone just stays on and the screen goes back to normal.

Power Off the Oppo Phone auf Oppo

Oppo phones running ColorOS handle shutdown differently from stock Android. Instead of a tap-to-confirm Power off switch, the screen shows a slider that has to be pulled down, not just tapped.

This gesture is part of the ColorOS system interface, which replaces several standard Android dialogs with its own visual style. Tapping the slider without dragging simply closes the shutdown menu, and many users assume the button is broken.

Correct steps to power off

Press and hold the Power buttonDrag the Button downwardsRelease the Button to power off.

Hold the physical Power button for about a second until the shutdown screen appears. Place your finger on the slider and drag it toward the bottom of the screen before letting go. The phone switches off once the slider reaches the end of its track.

If the display is frozen and this menu never shows up, a slide gesture will not help. In that case, hold the Power button for several seconds until the screen goes black to force a restart instead of a normal shutdown.

Frequently asked questions

The ColorOS shutdown screen needs a drag gesture, not a tap. Place your finger on Drag the Button downwards and move it to the bottom of the track before lifting your finger; a short tap only closes the menu.
