Is it safe to leave USB debugging turned on permanently?

It does not harm the phone, but any computer connected while USB debugging is active can install or remove apps and read some device data without further confirmation. Turn it off again once your development or flashing session with a specific computer is finished.

My computer still does not recognize my Oppo after enabling USB debugging. What else can I check?

Turn On/Off USB Debugging auf Oppo

USB debugging is part of the Developer options on Oppo phones running Coloros. It grants a connected computer or app deeper access to the system, which is required by ADB, Fastboot tools and many app-debugging workflows.

By default this menu is hidden, because Developer options are not meant for everyday use. That is why toggling USB debugging always starts with unlocking Developer options first, not with searching the main Settings screen.

Once unlocked, you find the switch under Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Developer options ➔ Enable or disable USB debugging ➔ Tap on OK. The confirmation dialog after tapping USB debugging is not optional; without confirming with Tap on OK, the toggle reverts itself.

Leave USB debugging off if you only use the phone normally and never connect it to a PC for development or flashing. Turning it on has no effect on daily performance, battery life or app behavior, but it does allow a connected computer to install apps, pull logs or push files without extra prompts, so only enable it on devices and cables you trust.

If the toggle stays greyed out, Developer options were not fully unlocked, or a work profile / MDM restriction is blocking it.
