Realme: Turn Location On or Off

If weather widgets, maps or navigation apps suddenly stop finding your position on your Realme phone, the Location service is often switched off without you realizing it. A GPS signal that keeps searching in the background can also drain the battery faster than normal. Whether Location is on or off decides which apps can even request your current position.

Turn Location On or Off auf Realme

Realme UI turns on Location by default so apps can request your position for weather updates, maps, navigation or geotagged photos. If a navigation app suddenly loses your position, or the battery drains faster than usual, this setting is the first thing to check.

The Location toggle is separate from mobile data or Wi-Fi settings, because Android bundles GPS, Wi-Fi positioning and mobile network positioning under one switch.

To turn Location on or off:

SettingsLocation ➔ enable or disable the toggle at the top of the screen.

Once Location is disabled, any app that relies on it - navigation, weather, ride-hailing, fitness tracking - loses access to your current position until you switch it back on. Some apps then fall back to a default or last known location, others stop functioning correctly.

Leave Location on if you use navigation, weather widgets or location-based reminders regularly. Turn it off to save battery, reduce background tracking, or when you are indoors and do not need GPS accuracy for a while. You can also block individual apps from using location while the system toggle stays on, through the app permission settings.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. GPS scanning and constant position updates are among the more energy-intensive background tasks on Realme UI, so disabling Location in SettingsLocation reduces background battery drain, especially for apps that check your position frequently.
