Realme: Restrict Mobile Data or Wi-Fi for a Specific App

If YouTube, Netflix or a background app keeps eating through your mobile data plan even when you only meant to use it on Wi-Fi, the app's individual network permission is likely still set to allow both connection types. The same issue shows up in reverse when an app refuses to load unless mobile data is switched on, even though you are connected to Wi-Fi. Realme UI lets you control each app's network access separately from the general Wi-Fi and mobile data toggles.

Block Mobile Data or Wi-Fi for a Single App auf Realme

On Realme phones, every installed app has its own network permission separate from the main Wi-Fi and mobile data switches. This is why an app can keep transferring data in the background even after you turned off mobile data system-wide, or why a media app suddenly refuses to load on Wi-Fi alone.

The control sits inside each app's data usage settings. Go to Tap on SettingsTap on App managementTap on App listChoose an AppTap on Data usage detailsTurn On/Off Disable mobile data/Wi-Fi.

Disabling mobile data for an app blocks it from using cellular networks entirely, while leaving Wi-Fi access untouched. Disabling Wi-Fi does the opposite. This is useful for streaming or media apps that otherwise switch to mobile data automatically once a Wi-Fi signal drops, which can burn through a data plan without warning.

If an app still connects after you disabled one option, check whether a VPN or a data saver feature is overriding the setting. Restricting data access can also delay notifications or background syncing for that app, so only turn it off for apps where up-to-date background activity is not required.

Frequently asked questions

The app loses all internet access until you re-enable one of the two options in Tap on Data usage details. It will still open and run, but any feature that needs a connection will fail or show an error.
