Samsung: Add a Printer via IP Address

If a printer never shows up in Samsung's Default Print Service, that model is likely not supported by the built-in driver list. Without a manual entry, print jobs simply fail or the printer never appears as an option. This mostly affects office, network, and older printers that the standard service does not recognize automatically.

Add a Printer by IP Address auf Samsung

Samsung phones rely on the Default Print Service to detect nearby printers automatically. This works for most consumer models, but many office, network, or older printers are not part of that automatic detection list.

When a printer is missing, Android has no way to guess its address on the network. The fix is to add the printer manually by entering its IP address directly in the print service settings.

You need the printer's IP address before starting. It usually appears in the printer's own network menu or in its printed status report.

If the printer still does not respond after adding it this way, check that both the phone and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. A firewall or guest network can also block the connection even when the IP address is correct.

For printers that support Wi-Fi Direct instead of a fixed IP, manual entry will not help. In that case, use the printer's own app or its Wi-Fi Direct pairing option instead.

Frequently asked questions

Check the printer's network settings menu on its display, or print a network status page directly from the printer. Most home routers also list connected devices, including the printer, under their admin page.
