Samsung: Enable or Disable Roaming Assistance

Phone numbers saved in your contacts rarely include a country code, since you normally do not need one at home. Once you leave the country, that missing code becomes a problem: your phone tries to dial the number as a local call in the country you are roaming in, not as an international call back home.

Roaming assistance is the Samsung feature that catches this. When active, it automatically adds the correct international prefix to outgoing calls while you are connected to a foreign network, so contacts saved without a country code still reach the right destination.

You find the option under Tap on Phone ➔ Open the Menu ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Other call settings ➔ Tap on Roaming assistance ➔ Choose an option. Samsung typically offers a mode that adds the prefix automatically, one that asks you before every call, and one that turns the feature off completely.

Leave it on automatic if you travel often and want calls to just work without extra taps. Switch to the confirmation mode if you sometimes dial local numbers while abroad and want to avoid an unwanted country code being added to those. Turning it off makes sense only if you manually enter full international numbers yourself.

One side effect to know: with automatic mode active, dialing an already complete international number can occasionally trigger a duplicate prefix. If a specific number stops connecting after enabling the feature, check the confirmation mode instead so you can verify the number before each call.
