Turn Color Inversion On or Off auf Xiaomi
Color inversion is an accessibility function built into MIUI. It flips brightness and color values across the whole interface, so light backgrounds turn dark and dark text turns light. Photos, videos, and app icons are inverted too, which is why the camera preview or gallery can suddenly look like a negative.
The setting exists to help with light sensitivity or certain vision needs, but it is often triggered by accident through a shortcut or while exploring the accessibility menu. Once active, it affects every screen on the device, not just one app.
Where to find the setting
Go to Settings ➔ Additional settings ➔ Accessibility ➔ Vision ➔ Color inversion. Here you can toggle Use color inversion to turn the effect fully on or off.
MIUI also lets you enable Color inversion shortcut in the same menu. With the shortcut active, you can switch inversion on or off quickly without digging through settings again, which is useful if you use it occasionally for reading at night.
If colors look wrong only in specific apps and not system-wide, the cause is usually a dark theme or app-level display setting instead of Color inversion. Check the app's own display options first before changing system accessibility settings.
