Back Up Your Phone to Xiaomi Cloud auf Xiaomi
Xiaomi Cloud backup only works after you sign in with a Mi account and turn sync on manually. MIUI does not enable this by default, which is why photos, contacts, messages and app data are often missing when you set up a new device.
The function responsible for this sits under Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on About phone ➔ Tap on Back up and restore ➔ Tap on Xiaomi Cloud. From there, tap Tap on Sync and confirm with Tap on Turn on to start uploading your data to the Xiaomi servers tied to your Mi account.
Once active, MIUI keeps syncing selected categories in the background, similar to how Google Backup works on other Android phones. This is useful when switching devices or recovering from a factory reset.
If you only need a one-time copy before wiping the phone, a local backup to an SD card or PC might be faster and does not depend on storage limits. Xiaomi Cloud has a free storage cap, so large photo or video libraries can fill it quickly and stop new backups from completing.
Check your Mi account storage usage before relying on cloud sync for critical data, especially if you have not backed up in a while.
