Create a Local Backup auf Xiaomi
A local backup on a Xiaomi phone saves system settings, the home screen layout and installed apps together with their data directly to the internal storage. Unlike a cloud backup, it does not need an active internet connection or free account storage, which makes it faster and more reliable for a quick backup before a reset or a system update.
You find the option under Settings ➔ About phone ➔ Back up and restore ➔ Mobile device. From there, select the categories you want to include and tap Back up to start the process.
A local backup only protects data as long as the phone itself stays intact or accessible. If the device is lost, damaged or wiped without transferring the backup first, the saved data is gone as well.
For that reason, a cloud backup or a backup to a computer is the better choice when you plan a device change or want protection against hardware failure. Use a local backup mainly for short-term safety nets, such as before installing a system update or clearing app data.
Backup size depends on the amount of app data and media selected, so check available storage before starting on devices with limited internal memory.
