Xiaomi: Reject an Incoming Call

If a call comes in at a bad moment on your Xiaomi phone, you don't have to answer it or wait it out. The red decline icon on the incoming call screen lets you dismiss it right away, but only if you swipe correctly. Miss the gesture and the call keeps ringing or gets answered by accident.

Reject an Incoming Call auf Xiaomi

On Xiaomi phones running MIUI, an incoming call fills the screen with a red decline icon instead of a simple button. Rejecting the call works as a swipe gesture, not a tap.

You drag the Phone button downwards and release it to reject the call. If the swipe is too short or goes in the wrong direction, MIUI reads it as an accidental touch and the call keeps ringing.

This gesture ends the call from the caller's side right away. Depending on the carrier, the caller hears a busy tone or gets sent to voicemail immediately.

Rejecting is not the same as muting the ringer. Muting only silences the sound on your phone while the call keeps ringing until it times out. Swiping to reject actively ends the call for both sides.

If the incoming call screen does not respond to the swipe, check that no case or screen protector overlaps the edge where you drag the Phone button.

Frequently asked questions

No. Rejecting only ends that one call. To stop future calls from the same number, add it to your blocklist separately.
