Double-Space Period Shortcut auf Xiaomi
Double-space period is a text correction shortcut built into the Xiaomi keyboard. When it is active, tapping the space bar twice in a row automatically inserts a period followed by a space, so you can end a sentence without reaching for the punctuation key.
Some people type fast and hit the space bar twice by accident, which leads to unwanted periods showing up mid-sentence. Others want the shortcut enabled because it genuinely speeds up messaging and note-taking. Either way, the setting lives inside the keyboard app itself, not in the general typing settings screen.
Where to find the setting
On MIUI, the option sits under the keyboard's text correction menu. Follow this path:
Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap on Languages & input ➔ Tap on Manage keyboards ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Text correction ➔ Enable or disable Double-space period
Toggle the switch off if you keep getting accidental periods, or turn it on if you want the faster sentence-ending shortcut. The change applies immediately, no restart needed.
If you use a third-party keyboard app instead of the default MIUI keyboard, this exact menu will not apply. Check that keyboard's own text correction or punctuation settings instead.
