Turn Off TalkBack on Xiaomi auf Xiaomi
TalkBack is a screen reader built into MIUI. Once it is on, it takes over touch input: a single tap only selects and announces an item, and you need a second tap to actually activate it. Scrolling also changes, since a normal one-finger swipe is reserved for moving between elements.
This is why disabling TalkBack itself follows the same double-tap pattern. You select each menu item with one tap, then confirm it with a second tap in the same spot.
Menu path to turn off TalkBack
Go to Tap on Settings ➔ Tap twice on Settings to open the app. Scroll down with Swipe with two fingers to scroll, since a single-finger swipe would just move the selection.
Select Tap on Additional settings ➔ Tap twice on Additional settings, then Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap twice on Accessibility.
Continue with Tap on Vision ➔ Tap twice on Vision, then Tap on TalkBack ➔ Tap twice on TalkBack.
Open the toggle with Tap on Use TalkBack ➔ Tap twice on Use TalkBack. Confirm the action with Tap on Stop ➔ Tap twice on Stop. Touch input returns to normal single-tap behavior right away.
If TalkBack turned on by accident, check whether a volume-key shortcut or another accessibility gesture is set up, since that is the most common trigger.
