Android: Allow or Block Repeat Callers in Do Not Disturb

If someone calls you twice within 15 minutes while Do Not Disturb is active, the first call stays silent but the second one rings through. That is not a bug, it is the Repeat callers exception in Android's Do Not Disturb rules for People. If you want calls to stay muted no matter how often someone tries, you need to turn that exception off yourself.

Allow or Deny Repeat Callers in Do Not Disturb auf Android

Android's Do Not Disturb mode mutes calls by default, but it makes an exception for people who call twice in a row. If the same number calls again within 15 minutes, the second attempt is treated as urgent and allowed through, even though the first call was silenced.

This behavior comes from the Repeat callers rule inside the People settings of Do Not Disturb. It exists so a genuine emergency caller who tries again gets through, instead of being blocked entirely while your phone is muted.

You can switch this exception on or off using the following path:

Tap on SettingsTap on Sound & vibrationTap on Do Not DisturbTap on PeopleTap on CallsEnable or disable Allow repeat callers

With the option enabled, a second call from the same contact within 15 minutes always rings, regardless of who is allowed to call under your Do Not Disturb rules. Disabling it means every call is treated the same, so Do Not Disturb keeps muting calls no matter how many times someone tries.

Turn the exception off if you rely on Do Not Disturb for uninterrupted focus or sleep and do not want repeated attempts to break through. Keep it on if you want a safety net for urgent situations without opening up Do Not Disturb to every caller.
