Turn Camera Shutter Sound On or Off auf Android
The camera shutter sound is a built-in notification that plays every time you take a photo. It exists to let people nearby know a picture was captured, which is required by law in some regions and simply expected behavior in others.
If you need to shoot photos quietly - in a meeting, a library, or just to avoid disturbing people around you - you can switch this sound off directly inside the Camera app, without touching your phone's overall media volume.
Open Camera ➔ Menu ➔ More settings ➔ then toggle Camera sounds on or off. This setting only affects the shutter sound tied to the Camera app and stays as you set it until changed again.
Turning this off does not automatically mute other camera-related sounds, such as focus confirmation tones or countdown timers, since some camera versions control those separately.
On some devices sold in specific countries, manufacturers lock the shutter sound permanently on for legal reasons. If the toggle is missing or grayed out, that is usually the cause.
