Android: Clear the Entire Call History

If your Phone app list keeps filling up with old calls and message entries, deleting them one at a time takes forever. Android offers a way to remove the entire call and message history in a single action instead of clearing each entry separately. This action cannot be undone, so it helps to know exactly where the option lives before you tap it.

Clear the Entire Call History auf Android

The Phone app on Android keeps a running log of every call and message you send or receive. Over time this list fills up with numbers you no longer need, old spam calls, and duplicate entries from the same contact.

Deleting each entry by hand works, but it takes a long time once the list grows past a few dozen items. Android includes a bulk option that clears the whole log in a single confirmation instead of forcing you to swipe away entries one by one.

To clear everything, go to Tap on PhoneOpen the MenuTap on Call historyOpen the MenuTap on Clear call historyTap on OK.

Once you confirm, the entire log disappears immediately. There is no built-in way to bring the entries back, so this is not the right move if you still need a record of specific calls for billing or reference.

Clearing the history does not touch your saved contacts, and it does not delete the actual text messages stored in your messaging app. It only removes the call and message log shown inside the Phone app itself.

Frequently asked questions

No. Clearing the log through Clear call history only removes the list of past calls and messages. Your contacts stay untouched.
