Turn Off Contact Suggestions in Gboard auf Android
Contact suggestions is a Gboard feature that scans your Contacts app and offers matching names, phone numbers, or email addresses while you type. It shows up in messaging apps and in text fields inside other apps, including web forms in your browser.
The feature saves a few taps when you fill out forms often, but it also means anyone using your unlocked phone can see contact details just by starting to type a name. Turning it off stops Gboard from reading your Contacts app for suggestions, without deleting or changing any saved contact.
Where to find the setting
The switch sits inside the keyboard settings, not inside the Contacts app itself. Follow this path:
Settings ➔ System ➔ Keyboard ➔ On-screen keyboard ➔ Gboard ➔ Text correction ➔ Suggest Contacts
Toggle the option off to stop the suggestions, or back on if you want them again. The setting takes effect immediately in every app that uses Gboard, no restart needed.
If you use a different keyboard app instead of Gboard, this switch will not be visible; check that app's own text correction or prediction settings instead.
