Extra Dim Screen Below Minimum Brightness auf Android
Standard brightness sliders on Android stop at a hardware-defined minimum. In low-light rooms or right before sleep, that minimum can still feel harsh on the eyes, especially with an OLED panel showing white or light-colored apps.
Extra dim is an accessibility feature that applies an additional software overlay on top of the lowest brightness level, pushing the display noticeably darker than the regular slider allows. It works independently from Dark theme, which changes app colors rather than actual screen output.
Where to find Extra dim
Open Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Accessibility ➔ Tap on Extra dim. From there, use Enable or disable Make screen extra dim to turn the feature on, then adjust it with Set the Intensity to control how dark the overlay gets.
The intensity slider lets you balance readability against eye comfort. A higher setting dims more aggressively but can make some interfaces hard to read in bright surroundings, so it is worth testing indoors and outdoors separately.
Extra dim works well for night reading or watching video in a dark room. If you instead want to reduce blue light rather than overall brightness, look at a separate night-light or eye-comfort shield feature, since that changes color temperature instead of darkness.
