Import Contacts from a .vcf File auf Android
A .vcf file stores one or more contact entries in a format that phones exchange during backups, transfers, or manual sharing. Android does not merge this file into your address book on its own. You have to open it through the Contacts app and confirm which entries to add.
This matters after switching devices, restoring a backup from another platform, or receiving a shared contact card by email or messaging app. Until the import step runs, the .vcf file just sits in storage and none of its entries show up when you search your contacts or place a call.
Menu path
Open Open Contacts ➔ Open the menu ➔ Open the settings ➔ Tap on Import ➔ Choose the contact data to import. Android then reads the file and lists the entries it found before adding them to your existing contact list.
If the file contains duplicate names or numbers already saved on your phone, Android usually keeps both versions rather than merging them automatically. Check your contact list afterward and remove duplicates manually if needed.
Skip this process if you only need to view a single contact once, since opening the .vcf file directly with a preview app avoids adding it permanently.
