Change Name Format in Call History auf Android
The Phone app on Android stores a separate display setting for how names appear in the call history. This setting is independent from the sort order you choose for your contact list, which is why call history entries can look inconsistent even when your contacts are sorted correctly.
The name format decides whether a caller shows up as First name first (e.g. John Smith) or Last name first (e.g. Smith, John). If this setting does not match how your contacts are actually saved, entries in the call log can look jumbled or hard to scan quickly, especially with longer contact lists.
To change it, open Tap on Phone ➔ Open the Menu ➔ Tap on Settings ➔ Tap on Display options ➔ Tap on Name format ➔ Select First name first or Last name first. The change applies immediately across the call history and contact list.
If names still look inconsistent after switching the format, the issue is usually with how individual contacts were saved rather than the display setting. Check contacts where the full name was typed into a single field instead of separate first and last name fields, since those entries ignore the format setting entirely.
